R&D carries out much of the water supply pipe renewal we do by moling under the surface (see video on ‘Moling’ under the Our Services tab on the website). We have invested in the last few months in new moles and new compressors and the beauty of our new compressors is that they are portable – certainly more portable than the big old beasts that have lived on our vans for the last 10-12 years. We’ve never had a problem with the old compressors , bless ‘em, but it took a good few of us to lift them in and out of the vans when necessary, so they tended to lurk in the back of the van and chunter away, making it difficult sometimes for our engineers to get close to the job. The new compressors are smaller and can be lifted off the van and wheeled for a reasonable distance, enabling us to mole more easily in places that the van can’t get to, which in Devon and Cornwall is quite a consideration. This means that we can carry out our work more easily, more quickly and with fewer hoses trailing across working areas, gardens, footways etc.
We received a lovely letter from a customer today (19 Jan 2015) for work we completed this month.
“The team who worked on our water leak must be the best in the world. Hard working, very knowledgeable, clean and tidy and so polite. We and our neighbours are so pleased with the whole of the operation. Not only that the nearby bakery staff and also the dental practice staff all said, as they passed by, how hard working the men were, and also no one can see where they dug the grass area or the stones area. The job was done at great speed and so efficiently. No praise can be good enough. We will write to South West Water and our Insurance company, and the Solicitor/Loss adjustor to advise them all how good R&D are.”
Mr Williams, Helston.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone at R&D water engineers for their help. We had a burst water system and no water and with 3 small children it was getting desperate. R&D were the only company who were helpful and offered to move things around so that they could get a team out to us first thing the next day.
It was a very difficult job complicated by us not being on mains water but the engineers did not leave until we had a water supply and our system was leak free. They had to do lots of digging up but left everything tidy. They were wonderful and we are so grateful as they made what was a very complex and stressful situation all good again. If only the insurance claim was as simple!!
Thanks so much again and we will be recommending your company to anyone who needs your services.
We are in the process of installing new water supplies to a number of rural properties at Putsborough, North Devon. This involves laying over 3000 metres of new water pipe, across some steep terrain, and in all weathers, bringing the new supplies down to the properties from South West Water’s main which is situated some distance away. The job has been two years in the planning because of the number of landowners and properties involved. We are using heavy plant and trenchless technology (‘moling’).
